I believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus, the Messiah
the unique Son of God,
eternally unique of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
unique, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day after his crucifixion
he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
For-ever he lives in and communes with every believing-soul,
through whom he proclaims grace and justice to all mankind
until the return of the Messiah.
I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We do not belong to the world of this age but are sent into it
to be its salt and light.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and to the life of the world in the eternal kingdom of God.
[Adapted from the Nicene Creed, 325.]
This is the Lord’s Prayer,
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
And never bring us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
And I pray this in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
